 | Welcome to the Wyoming PTO's weekly newsletter. Here you will find important information and lots of news. You can also go to WyomingPTO.org to find additional details. Question of the week: I didn't buy tickets to the Fall Festival. Can my children still come? Answer: Yes! You can buy tickets at the door at $10 per child. | |
 | | The Wyoming Fall Festival is THIS FRIDAY! We hope you will join us at the annual Fall Festival this Friday, October 14th from 3-5 pm at Slayton Field. The forecast is calling for a sunny day! Tickets at the door are $10 (there is no cost for adults). This is a Wyoming only event, but we welcome siblings and friends. All children MUST be supervised.
There will be pumpkin decorating, face painting, crafts, Cake Walk (please see below), horse and carriage rides, an inflatable obstacle course and more! A donut, apple and juice or water will also be included in the ticket price. The 5th grade students will be selling additional food to fund their year-end activities.
We still need a few more volunteers! Please sign up for a shift here. Shifts are 3-4 pm, 4-5 pm and 5-6 pm (clean-up).

 | | Calling for baked goods! We need lots of baked goods for the Fall Festival's popular Cake Walk. Cookies, cakes, brownies, Rice Krispie treats or other desserts. No time to bake? You can bring a store bought treat or even a gift certificate to an ice cream shop, a bakery or Dunkin Donuts. Please have your treats wrapped in kid-sized portions. Remember, the more treats we receive, the more Cake Walk rounds we can run. Please bring the treats to the teacher's lounge by noon on Friday, October 14, the day of the festival! |
|
 | | Lunch Volunteers still needed!
We need a few more volunteers to help with lunch on Thursdays and Fridays. To see the list of dates that we need volunteers for, and to sign up, please click here for Thursdays and here for Fridays.
We can also use help with Snack Shack on Fridays. Please click here to sign up for a specific Friday. |
|
 | | | Reminder: Bring gold tokens to school on Friday!
All 3-5 graders who received gold tokens instead of the official Wyoming Snack Shack tokens, should bring them to school on Friday, October 14th so that we can swap them.

| October Newsletter The students of Wyoming School have been busy learning and settling into their class routines. October is filled with many learning opportunities, as teaching and instruction are the main focal point. Students are working on reading and writing workshop, word study, math, social studies and inquiry based science, as well as all of the related art subjects; art, music, library and physical education. Teachers attended workshops throughout the district on October 10th focusing on beginning work in their Professional Learning Communities.
Since October is Anti–Bullying Awareness Month, I wanted to explain what Wyoming School will be working on this year as part of our character education curriculum. We have planned to promote positive ways to treat others and focus on being kind. We also ask for your support with various activities and speaking with your children. As you may know, Wyoming School will continue with the program Wyoming Honors Our Behavior and the focus on Kindness for this school year. Kindness, respect, honesty, responsibility, fairness and citizenship are all important characteristics. Each year at Wyoming School there is a focus on one of these virtues.
As a school, we will continue to reward students for being kind to one another. Four times a year I will be going into classrooms to present a pin and a certificate to students who have been identified by their teacher as earning a Kindness award. Also, a Kindness Tree is displayed in the front hallway located by the Pine Street door. Students can earn leaves for random acts of kindness, so let’s make our tree grow.
Some Important Reminders: Arrival is between 8:25 and 8:35. Please arrive at school between these designated times. The green flag indicates outside line-up and a red flag signifies inside line-up. Students will be outside when the weather is above 32 degrees for both recess and line-up and should dress accordingly.
Dismissal plans are extremely important for our students and their daily routine. All students should know where they are going after school on a regular basis. Any changes should be reported to both your child’s teacher and Mrs. Todd in advance by email and/or a note from home. We ask that you please refrain from making any changes to your child’s dismissal plan once they are in school unless you have an emergency. These changes not only cause disruption to both the office and the classroom, they may create confusion and therefore compromise a student’s safety. We appreciate everyone’s cooperation with dismissal. Thank you!

 | | Red Ribbon Week is coming! The Millburn Municipal Alliance Committee (MMAC} will once again be sponsoring Red Ribbon Week throughout the district from October 23th to October 31st. MMAC will be hosting an assembly at Wyoming School on October 27th on setting goals and making positive choices. Each day during Red Ribbon Week, we will suggest an unusual and different dress code to show your Red Ribbon spirit. MMAC is also sponsoring a team to participate in the Red Ribbon Walk. If you would like to join our team on October 22nd, you can click here to register or show your support. To see our flyer, click here.
We are still looking for volunteers for Wyoming's MMAC team. We are an organization that educates students and parents about issues concerning Drug, Alcohol & Tobacco use as well as other issues facing our kids. It is critical that we start with our youngest students. If interested in helping on this vital committee, please contact Mitchell Search. |

| - Thank you to all of our lunch volunteers for keeping our food program running so smoothly each week! We couldn't run this vital program without you so keep up the great work.
- A huge thank you to Heather Jenquine for all of her hard work in helping to get the new ASE program started. Also thank you to Kathleen Fiore for her additional support, even though she hung up her ASE hat, she still stepped up to give guidance when it was needed.
